Chapter 6
1. What did Crusoe see in the sand?
= This happened one day at about noon. Crusoe was walking along the beach then he saw a mark of a man's foot in the sand.
2. Why did he stay at home?
= For several days afterwards, he stayed at home because he was afraid to go out.
3. Where did Crusoe find a safer hiding place?
= He found a cave high up in the rocks. It was quite dry. There he brought five guns and a barrel of gunpowder. He also made some candles to light the place.
4. Where did he find a watching place?
= Every day he climbed to the top of a high rock nearby. From there he looked over the sea. He was watching for canoes, bringing savages to the island.
5. What was not surprising?
= It was not surprising that the savages eat man after cooking them in fire.
6. What were the savages' cruel ways?
= They used to bring their prisoners to that island and cook them and eat them.
7. What did Crusoe see from his watching place?
= Crusoe saw from his watching place that nine savages sitting round a fire. Nearby were the two canoes which had brought them to the island.
8. What did he find near the fire?
= Near the fire, hew found many bones - bones of people. Hands and feet of men.
9. What made him feel 'sick and weak'?
= The sight near the fire made him feel 'sick and weak'.
10. What ''horrible sight'' troubled him?
= The ''horrible sight'' was that the savages had made the fire to cook some human beings. And they were then eating them.
11. How did Crusoe tried to make his home safer after watching the foot print of the savage in the sand?
= He made his fence stronger. He made seven holes in his fence to hold his seven guns. He fixed his guns in the holes so that he could fire them all in two minutes.
12. What did the savages do after eating the men after cooking them?
= After their meal, the savages began dancing round the fire. They were waving their hands. They were singing and shouting. They had no clothes on at all. At last, they jumped into their canoes and sailed away.
