1. What happened when Huck's father went to Judge Thatcher?
= Huck's father went to Judge Thatcher and demanded the money which belonged to Huck. Judge Thatcher did not give him the money. Then he swore that he would go to a lawyer about it. He would have it even if he had to kill the judge first.
2. Why did Widow Douglas went to the court and what happened there?
= Widow Douglas went to court about Huck. She wanted to adopt Huck as her son. But there was a new judge in the court and he knew very little about Huck's father's bad ways. He said that it would be wrong to separate a son from his father.
3. Why Huck's father was very pleased and what did he do then?
= Huck's father was very pleased about the fact that the new judge does not want to let Widow Douglas to adopt Huck as his father is still alive and he does not want to separate the son from his father.
Then Huck's father frightened him and asked him to bring some money for him unless he would beat the life out him.

= Huck brought three dollars for his father from Judge Thatcher.
His father of course went out and got drunk. Then he went round the town, cursing and shouting, and banging a tin pan till after midnight. He had been put in prison for a week.

= When he came out, he was like a mad man. he threatened to kill Judge Thatcher; and Widow Douglas as well.

= One day he caught Huck and took him three miles up the river to an old log hut in the woods.

= Huck could not get away because his father always locked the door and kept the key on him.

= Huck's father had a gun and they went hunting and fishing, and that's how they lived.

= Huck's father, from time to time, locked him in the hut and went down to the store to get whiskey in exchange for fish and the animals that he would shot. he usually came back drunk and then he would begin beating him.

= After two dreadful months passed, his clothes became filthy rags, like his father's. He could not stand it any longer. He felt that he simply need to escape from there.

= It was not easy for Huck to escape from the hut he had been confined by his father because the window was too small for a dog to get through. The door was made of hard wood, nearly three inches thick.
12. What was the good luck Huck had while being in the hut one day?
= Huck had the good luck to find a rusty saw lying between the beams and the broads of the roof. He greased it and at once stared to work sawing out a part of a log at the bottom of the wall. It was hard work but he was determined to get out.

= Huck hid the saw at once and cleared the sawdust away.

= Huck's father fetched a sack of flour, some meat, some gun-powder and shot, four gallons of whisky and several other things.

= Huck thought that in an hour his father would be quite drunk and he would steal the key from him or saw his way out.

= There were no real snakes. Huck's father yelled "Snakes!" in a fit of him mind as he was drunk.

= Huck's father took Huck as the Angel of Death and he had come to take him. But he was not normal, he was drunk, so he chased Huck with the knife in his hand to kill him as he imagined him as the agent of the God of the Death.

= Once Huck's father caught him by the collar of his coat at the back, and he thought his end had come. But quick as lighting, he slipped out of his coat and so saved himself.
19. Why do you think Huck was pointing the gun at his father? Would he kill his father?
= I think Huck was pointing the gun at his father only to frighten him and to stop him to torture him.
He would never kill him. After all he is his father.
