Huck And His Father
1. How is the condition of the season and how is the status of Huck?
= Three or four months later it was then middle of winter, with deep snow on the ground. All this time he had attended school, and he could then read and write a little.
2. How was the experience of Huck at school?
= At first Huck hated school but little by little he got used to it. He was also getting used to Widow Douglas' ways and he thought that sometimes she was pleased with him.
3. What was the superstition Huck believed about salt?
= If he upset salt, that of course meant bad luck unless he threw a little over his left shoulder.
4. Why Huck left the house quite worried?
= Huck upset the salt and he wanted to throw a little over his left shoulder but Miss Watson did not let him to do so. That is why he was presuming of some evil to happen to him.
5. Do any evil happened to him? What was that?
= Yes something new happened to him which was definitely an evil to his life.
Out side the gate he found some foot prints and he discovered that there were a cross in the left boot-heel and Huck recognised that they were the shoes of his father. His father was some where near him.
6. Why did Huck's father had a cross in his left boot-heel?
= Huck's father had a cross in the left boot-heel, made with big nails, to keep the devils away.
7. Why his father had come near him?
= Huck's father had heard about the money that Tom Sawyer and he had found in a cave sometime ago. Huck had handed his share to Judge Thatcher for him to look after. It was a lot of money - six thousand dollars. The Judge was keeping it for him to help him in the future. Huck's father wanted the money to spend on drink. Every penny that he could get he used to spend on whisky.
8. What did Huck do to save the money?
= Huck rushed to Judge Thatcher and he gave his all the money to the judge. Judge Thatcher gave him a paper on which he wrote that he had bought those form him and asked him to sign on the paper.
9. What happened that evening ?
= That evening Huck found his father in his room who was waiting for him. He had climbed in through the open window.
10. How was Huck's father look that evening?
= Huck looked at his father but he was not too frightened of him. he was dressed in dirty rags. His face was hardly being seen because of his long black hair and whiskers. He was filthy and smelled like a goat. He kept on staring at Huck with wild eyes. At last he spoke.
11. What did Huck's father ask him to do? Did he liked Huck to do so ? Write something more about it.
= Huck's father asked him to read something.
Huck took up a book and began to read something about George Washington.
Huck's father did not like the reading of Huck. He snatched the book out of his hand and threw it across the room
He warned Huck that if he catch him anywhere near that school, he will cut his throat.
12. How did Huck's father compared him with Huck?
= Huck's father said that Huck was a real sweet-scented pet. he had got a bed, bed-clothes, a looking-glass, a carpet on the floor - and his father had to sleep in the streets.
13. How did Huck's father come to know about the money he got?
= Huck's father was in town two days and everyone was telling about him about that his son was rich. He heard about it down the river too.
14. How much money Huck had in his pocket at that particular moment? What happened to it?
= Huck had only a dollar in his pocket at that particular moment.
His father forced him to handed him the money and Huck did so. Then his father went to town to get some whiskey with it.
